Verified July 2026 exam snapshot

The official examination content outline states 180 questions in 240 minutes: 170 scored and 10 unscored pretest questions. The updated assessment can include single- and multiple-response multiple choice, case or scenario sets, graphical and data interpretation, and interactive formats such as enhanced matching, matching, drag-and-drop, point-and-click, and pull-down responses where supported. It covers predictive, adaptive/agile, and hybrid approaches. Confirm modality, breaks, application, training, and eligibility on the live PMI pages before acting.

1

People, vision, leadership, and trust

Weeks 1–2

Start with the human system because most scenario choices are decisions about evidence, authority, inclusion, communication, and outcomes.

  • Build and maintain a shared, measurable vision; diagnose the cause of disagreement instead of forcing surface compliance.
  • Practice conflict analysis, ground rules, psychological safety, equitable participation, and resolution at the lowest effective level.
  • Tailor leadership to capability, urgency, risk, culture, and team need; empower through clear outcomes, authority, information, and boundaries.
  • Analyze stakeholders by impact and need as well as influence, including affected users with little formal power.
  • Align expectations through assumptions, capacity, trade-offs, acceptance evidence, and explicit decisions rather than unsupported promises.
  • Design communication and feedback loops that preserve one truthful source while tailoring depth, cadence, channel, and accessibility.
  • Transfer critical knowledge through pairing, demonstrations, records, practice, and verification of successor capability.
2

Integrated planning and delivery approach

Weeks 3–4

Learn to connect predictive, adaptive, and hybrid practices to the work rather than to preference.

  • Assess complexity, uncertainty, compliance, dependencies, physical constraints, reversibility, feedback needs, and organizational capability.
  • Integrate scope, schedule, resources, procurement, finance, quality, risk, communication, compliance, change, and transition plans.
  • Define outcome-based scope with boundaries, exclusions, assumptions, decomposition, acceptance evidence, and agreement.
  • Use rolling-wave detail for uncertain work while maintaining shared dependencies, release criteria, governance, and forecasts.
  • Plan resource capacity realistically across projects and avoid normalizing hidden overtime.
  • Evaluate procurement through contract fit, capability, measurable obligations, risk allocation, lifecycle value, and total cost.
3

Value, finance, quality, schedule, and evidence

Weeks 5–6

Connect output to value and make every material status claim auditable.

  • Create benefit hypotheses with baselines, indicators, owners, review dates, thresholds, and adapt-or-stop decisions.
  • Prioritize increments by expected value, stakeholder evidence, uncertainty reduction, risk, and opportunity cost.
  • Separate planned funding and reserves, analyze financial variation, forecast ranges, and report deferred obligations rather than celebrating misleading underspend.
  • Plan quality around fitness for use, severity, affected groups, prevention, appraisal, failure cost, regulatory needs, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
  • Build schedules from dependencies, capacity, milestones or story estimates, benchmarks, and historical evidence; analyze variance before promising recovery.
  • Define metrics with controlled sources, reconciliation, segmentation, limitations, owners, and decision relevance.
  • Close only after completion criteria, stakeholder approval, transition readiness, obligations, records, lessons, and benefit ownership are addressed.
4

Governance, compliance, change, risk, and the enterprise

Week 7

Practice accountable decisions under policy, uncertainty, and external change.

  • Define governance roles, policies, ethics, metrics, reporting, decision rights, materiality thresholds, escalation, dissent, and correction.
  • Manage compliance from applicability and classification through controls, operating-effectiveness evidence, findings, remediation, and residual exposure.
  • Evaluate changes proportionately, communicate status, obtain authority, implement safely, validate, and update records.
  • Distinguish a risk from a realized issue; prioritize impediments and apply owned interventions with continuous reassessment.
  • Write actionable risk records with cause, uncertain event, impact, owner, analysis, response, trigger, reserve, status, and cadence.
  • Govern exceptions with scope, rationale, owner, compensating controls, monitoring, expiry, and review authority.
  • Assess culture, roles, authority, incentives, skills, and adoption when the project changes the organization.
  • Continuously scan regulatory, market, technology, geopolitical, sustainability, and supplier conditions for scope or backlog impact.
5

Scenario integration, projects, and readiness

Week 8+

Apply the complete system under time and decision pressure.

  • Complete the hybrid delivery plan and evidence system, tracing value and governance from vision through transition.
  • Run the project recovery simulation using fact reconciliation, conflict repair, value options, ethical reporting, a bounded recovery increment, and continue-or-stop thresholds.
  • Build the portfolio governance change scenario with proportional controls, method-neutral evidence, exception expiry, benefit ownership, organizational change, and external-change injects.
  • Review all 40 cards and answer the exact 17 People, 20 Process, and 13 Business Environment allocation.
  • For each question, identify the current state, desired outcome, delivery approach, affected stakeholders, decision authority, missing evidence, ethical concern, and best next action.
  • Practice charts, data, multiple-response, matching, and case-style reasoning independently; this bank uses four-option scenario questions for reliable site delivery and does not imitate protected exam items.

Frequently asked questions

When did the updated exam launch?

The official examination content outline identifies it as the July 2026 PMP certification exam. Verify the live transition and scheduling information before booking.

What is the official format?

The outline states 180 questions, including 170 scored and 10 unscored pretest questions, in 240 minutes. It lists multiple-choice and enhanced interactive, graphical, data, case, and scenario formats, with some formats dependent on modality.

What are the domains and bank allocation?

People is 33% with 17 independent practice items; Process is 41% with 20; Business Environment is 26% with 13. The bank total is exactly 50.

Does this roadmap provide the required training hours?

No such claim is made. PMI's current application, experience, commercial-training, audit, and credit rules should be verified directly before relying on any course or study activity.

Do the questions reproduce the real exam?

No. They are original ethical situational-judgment scenarios based only on public objectives and do not contain official, live, recalled, leaked, copied, or dump content.

Should preparation focus only on adaptive delivery?

No. The official outline says predictive, adaptive/agile, and hybrid approaches appear across the value delivery spectrum.

What should be checked immediately before scheduling?

Check the live certification page, updated-exam page, current outline, eligibility path, experience window, training evidence, application audit rules, exam modality, identification, breaks, fees, and rescheduling policies.
